Dear Sisters and Brothers in the Lord:
TO ALL PRIESTS AND RELIGIOUS WORKING IN THE ARCHDIOCESE OF LAGOS, AND THE LAY FAITHFUL;
1. ON THE NEED FOR MORE ATTENTIVE PARENTING: Sometime in April this year, some children of a school in Lagos were involved in an indecent sexual activity during the course of their trip overseas at which they represented their school at an international event in Dubai. They filmed the act and uploaded it on the social network. The matter has generated social media outrage and sparked conversations around parenting. We wish to use this medium to encourage parents to pay more special attention to the emotional needs of their children given the general atmosphere of moral laxity that we are experiencing in our country as in other parts of the world. Parents must give more quality time to listen to their children, gain their confidence and pay attention to the influences that they are being exposed to. We are in an era in which the use of devices such as smart phones, television sets, sophisticated computers and tablets have become an imperative for education and entertainment. Parents must therefore ensure that they devise means of monitoring what the materials their children are exposed to and restrict them from access to inappropriate and immoral sites. The technological devices of our children should be restricted to educational sites only. Indeed, we advise parents not to purchase devices that are way beyond the minimum their children require for educational purposes. We know that parenting is not an easy task, it has never been but we must make more efforts. May God continue to bless our efforts as parents and guide our children to growth in moral values and holiness of life. Amen.
2. ALTAR WINE: Due to the rise in the cost of importation, consequent on the value of the Naira, the new batch of Altar wine that we have now will cost N35,000.00 per carton effective from 1st May, 2022. Parish priests and Priests-in-charge should please take note.
